February 22, 2007 (Press Release) --
The complaint alleges Richie was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and an unspecified drug when she was arrested Dec. 11. A pretrial conference was scheduled for April 2.
Richie, who starred in the TV reality show ''The Simple Life,'' was not required to appear for arraignment because the charge is a misdemeanor.
In addition to the single count, the Richie case contains an allegation that she had a prior misdemeanor DUI conviction in June 2003.
Those convicted of DUI in California twice within 10 years can be sentenced to between 90 days and a year in jail, be fine $390 to $1,000 and have driving privileges suspended.

SYDNEY, Australia -- Customs officials searched Sylvester Stallone's hotel room and private jet three days after seizing banned substances from the muscle-bound actor's entourage as he arrived for a promotional tour, a news report said.
Stallone's plane was searched on the tarmac at Sydney airport Monday, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Stallone and several people traveling with him were detained after their arrival Friday. Richard Janeczko, national investigations manager of Australian Customs Service, said some contraband items were taken, but didn't identify them.
Officials are still examining the substances collected to determine what action might be taken, the newspaper said.
''When leaving Australia they checked his room, his limo and his plane. They didn't find anything,'' Stallone's Los Angeles-based publicist Paul Bloch said Tuesday.
Bloch said Stallone, 60, arrived in Australia Friday to promote his latest film, ''Rocky Balboa,'' and officials examined his luggage.
''There was a minor misunderstanding,'' he said. ''They were doing their job. He didn't know the rules in Australia.''
Bloch said he didn't know what, if anything, was confiscated.
