The presentation was made by seasoned professional umpire Harry Wendelstedt, owner and director of the camp, who was joined by fellow Major League umpires, Randy marsh, Hunter Wendelstedt, Ed Hickock, Jerry Layne and lead instructor Paul Nauert in congratulating Dr. Fallon.
"It was a great honor to be among the best in major league baseball" said Fallon. “I learned much from these great men. Their dedication, their strong and determined attitudes and their great knowledge of the game made for a fantastic environment. It was an opportunity of a lifetime."
Harry Wendelstedt's Umpire School is one of two umpire schools from which graduates can enter major league baseball. Some of the finest umpires of all time were educated at Wendelsted’s school. For 30+ years, Harry Wendelstedt has trained the finest umpires in the major leagues and has seen the lion share of his graduates move into professional umpiring at the major league level.
Dr. Fallon was one of two women at this year's school. "They treated us with great respect" states Fallon, when asked about her experience as being one of a few women at the school. "The professional umpires were fantastic and the students were great. We had equal chance of entering professional baseball as the men. Harry and his staff encouraged us at every turn".
