As a former lawyer I knew nothing about running a gift-giving business and very little about the intricacies of the internet, so it came as a bit of a surprise that I ended up launching BeRapt, an online gift store dedicated to helping customers celebrate and nurture their most important relationships with unique gifts and an unequalled gift-giving experience.
In 2005 while searching the internet for a 5th wedding anniversary gift for my husband, I discovered a black hole where upscale gift stores should have existed. Initially, I thought the idea of opening an internet gift store was crazy because there were so many gift businesses on the internet. But then I realised that this was exactly the reason to go into it. All of those businesses were offering the same novelty type gifts and doing little to provide a unique memorable gift experience for both the gift-giver and the gift recipient.
Over the next year, I studied the existing gift market intensively; developed a simple, elegant and easy to use website; and sourced an inspired and growing collection of imaginative gifts. In October 2006, BeRapt was launched offering an exciting selection of gifts for all occasions and recipients, priced from £15 up to £250.
