Salem’s Statesman Journal newspaper held its annual Academic All-Stars celebration dinner on January 31st at Chemeketa Community College’s Northwest Viticulture Center in Salem. Each area high school was invited to select one senior for the honor, based on academic achievement as well as contribution to the community. Christopher Kevorkian of the Delphian School was chosen as one of thirty-three seniors honored at the dinner.
Christopher is from Boston, Massachusetts, and is in his third year at the Delphian School. He plans a career in computer engineering and has applied for admission to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University, Worchester Polytechnic Institute and Northeastern University. Among many extracurricular activities, Christopher spent two weeks full time tutoring 8th grade students in Baton Rouge, Louisiana earlier this school year. He is a member of the Delphian School’s chess team and tied for second place in the state high school chess tournament last year.
The Delphian School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school offering college preparatory, English-as-a-Second-Language and summer programs for elementary through high school students. The Delphian School is licensed to use Applied Scholastics(TM) educational services (http://www.AppliedScholastics.Org).
