March 9, 2007 (Press Release) --
New York, NY – February 7, 2007 – “An artist is like a reverse vampire,” proclaims
Suzanne Sterne, half of post-prog duo Ruby Bullet. “When you create you’re opening up
your veins and offering your blood to anyone who wants a taste. And by the time we
finally finished this album we had nearly bled ourselves dry.”
Aptly titled ‘Nothing Left to Bleed On’, the debut album from the NYC-based band is a
proto-masterpiece. Much like industry mainstays Tool, Bjork and Evanescence, Sterne
and drummer/engineer Pete Vassil obliterate the boundaries between pop, metal and
progressive rock in crafting their concise but complex anthems. Hooky enough for
mainstream radio but littered with alternate time signatures and dissonant arpeggios they
showcase the duo’s multi-faceted talents and penchant for extremes.
“What’s really amazing is that we made the album not once but twice,” says Vassil.
“And that (Sterne) and I didn’t kill each other in the process.” The two are well known
for their close and turbulent relationship.
The album was initially completed in the summer of 2005 when the band consisted of
Sterne, Vassil and a guitarist. Before a release date could be set the guitarist left the
project, citing personal and religious reasons. Following his departure, Sterne returned to
the studio, rerecording most of the tracks and performing everything on the album except
for the drums. Her work on the album clearly cements the musician/songwriter as the
most talented female in rock music to date.
Production credits include Grammy winners Jason Corsaro, Chris Castagno and Scott
Hull, among others.
‘Nothing Left to Bleed On’ is available from Sterne’s own VictoriousPirate.com, CD Baby,
iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster and Sony
Connect.
