March 14, 2007 (Press Release) --
(Houston / Bellaire, Texas) Celebrating their 50th year of humanitarian service, Bellaire / Southwest Houston Rotarians plan a ‘ramped up’ charity Fish Fry Festival for this coming San Jacinto Day, April 21st, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at 5501 Bissonnet and Chimney Rock. “San Jacinto Day is the perfect time for community celebration,” explained Rotary President Elect Nan Wagoner. “The fish on our tee shirts sports a 10-gallon Texas hat, and we’re adding name-entertainment with a lot more activities for a full-out festival atmosphere.”
Channel 8 television’s Ernie Manouse will serve as celebrity emcee, and The Barbara King Dance Company will perform. The service club, founded 50 years ago, hopes Southwest Houston turns out in force for what’s sure to be a terrific Saturday for the whole family. Rotarians will offer more than 100 tempting items at silent and live auctions, and a new preview catalog is available for buy-it-now auction purchases at www.bellairesw.org.
All proceeds from the Festival and auction support Bellaire/Southwest Houston Rotary’s local youth programs, civic projects, literacy initiatives, immunizations, vocational education, senior citizens’ programs, and humanitarian works. “The great thing about a charity auction is guilt-free shopping - - you get exactly what YOU want but every dollar helps others at the same time,” Wagoner said.
The public is invited to take a gander at auction items and entertainment additions as they are updated on the club website, www.bellairesw.org, during the count-down to Festival Day - just a little over a month away. Fish Dinner Tickets are $15 and include fried catfish, slaw, French fries, Hushpuppies, and drink. Hot dog, chips, popcorn, snow cones, and popular beverages also will be available onsite as individual purchases. Call 713-668-5680 for ticket information or purchase dinner tickets online at www.bellairesw.org.
The Rotary Club of Bellaire Southwest Houston meets at 12:00 Noon on Thursdays at Braeburn Country Club, 8100 Bissonnet, Houston, TX 77074 and is one of 31,000 Rotary clubs in more than 165 countries that provide humanitarian services and promote goodwill around the globe. Information regarding Bellaire Southwest Rotary membership, projects, and volunteer services may be found at www.bellairesw.org, with information regarding the Rotary International organization is available at www.rotary.org.
