BSB Engineering selects ProgressPlus Business Control Software
New system will help company improve Key Performance Indicators
14th March 2007: Berkeley Myles Solutions today announced that BSB Engineering has selected its ProgressPlus Business Control software to help the company improve its key performance indicators, to help speed up their business processes and to provide insights into the overall performance of their business.
BSB Engineering, based in Bolton, specialises in precision laser cutting, bending and punch pressing and supplies products for a range of markets including office furniture manufacturers, and the retail and leisure equipment industries. The company has been established since 1974 and is focused on providing high-quality products and providing outstanding levels of customer service and satisfaction.
“Following a thorough analysis of our business, we realised that we did not have enough detailed management information available,” said Tony Bladen, general manager at BSB Engineering. “This meant we did not have as much control over the business as we wanted and it also made it difficult to see where the business was heading.”
After evaluating a number of different Business Control Systems, including Sage, the company selected Progress Plus.
“We spoke to other customers who had installed ProgressPlus and also visited another similar company, Concept Metals, who has had the system deployed for three years. They demonstrated ProgressPlus working in a live environment and could not praise it enough. We also evaluated Sage as an alternative, but our impression was that ProgressPlus delivered 50% more functionality for the same price.”
BSB plan to use all of the functionality of ProgressPlus including enquiry, customer orders, purchasing, quality, shop floor data collection, and delivery and invoicing. The system was installed in December, and BSB are currently rolling out the system across all of its departments.
“ProgressPlus will help speed up all of our business processes - everything from a customer enquiry through to delivery and invoice - which can now be done quite easily with a single mouse click and without having to input the same information several times. We will also be able to easily monitor and analyze all of our jobs for profitability which will help us to concentrate our marketing on the more profitable parts of our business.”
“Although we are in the early stages of implementation, we are already extremely pleased with the capability of ProgressPlus.”
“Everyone we spoke to before we selected ProgressPlus commented on how good the support was but I’d have to say that the level and the quality of the support service is like no other I have dealt with. You get to speak to someone immediately, not in an hour or two like other support services and so any down time is minimal."
