Las Vegas, Nevada, March. 17, 2007 (Press Release) -- M.A.D.a.M and Spitlasvegas.com The Las Vegas Poets! at First Friday Steering Committee is pleased to announce that we have appointed poet-graphic-designer-media-event-producer Mary L. Carter to act as Mistress of Ceremonies (M.C.) for Las Vegas Poets! Outreaches to our community at First Friday, beginning April 6, 2007.
Launched in Fall 2006 by Vegas poets Mitchell Kalish and Nick Marco, Las Vegas Poets! at First Friday’s ongoing, live poetry outreaches expose arts-interested Las Vegas citizens to as full a sample range of Vegas-based poetry as possible, to encourage lovers of poetry here in Las Vegas to take part in local poetry readings and other poetry-related events.
Working with the Steering Committee, Ms. Carter as M.C. will introduce and “spotlight” Vegas-based poetry readings, workshops and publishers, who individually as hosts will present poetry and poets of their choosing to public audiences at First Friday. (During the opening hour of each of these four-hour evenings Ms. Carter will present poetry, poets and entertainment of her choice.)
Said Mr. Marco, speaking for the Steering Committee: “We’re confident that as a vital, engaging person with a strong commitment to advancing the arts in Las Vegas, Mary L. Carter will do an outstanding job of letting our citizens know that terrific poets are alive and well here in Vegas – and that they can be heard even better, on more intimate terms, in the local poetry readings and venues represented at these First Friday poetry outreaches.”
