March 20, 2007 (Press Release) --
Waunakee, WI (PRWEB) March 21, 2007 – The Software Management Institute announced today that they are making the Software Management Professional certification available to the public. The SMP certification will allow software professionals to demonstrate proficiency over a wide area of software management skills including project management, business analysis, marketing, sales, development, and quality assurance.
What makes the SMP stand out from other IT certifications is its focus on knowledge of fundamental concepts across the software development life cycle as opposed to granular expertise in any one particular area.
The Software Management Institute (SMI) is an International association of professional managers involved in creating or maintaining software applications. The SMI works in conjunction with industry leaders, including its Board of Advisors to provide management resources, services, research, certification, educational programs and events to its members and the software management community.
“The release of the SMP certification is driven by and acknowledges a shift in the nature of business itself from a silo’ed approach to resource management, where one individual is responsible for a singular aspect of a project, to a new era of knowledge worker management where one person is required to wear a variety of hats throughout the course of a project or even day.”, states Rich Butkevic, a board member of the SMI.
About the Software Management Institute:
More information on either the SMI or the SMP certification can be found on the SMI website www.thesmi.com. The introductory cost of the SMP certification exam is $149.00 and is expected to rise to $499.00, which is comparable to other IT certification costs. Membership in the SMI is also free at this time.
