Jewishop.com reveals new "Hamsa" (Lucky Talisman) collection, handmade in Israel.

March 23, 2007 (Press Release) -- Jewishop (http://www.jewishop.com) revealed (March 23rd) a new "Hamsa" (Lucky Talisman) collection, which is handmade and handcrafted in Jerusalem by Israeli artists and craftsmen. Most of the new "Hamsa" are made of silver plated pewter, with Jewish symbols and decorations (such as Hoshen – Breastplate and Jewish traditional blessings). The "Hamsa" symbolizes the Hand of Miriam (sister of Moses and Aaron), and serves as an ancient Jewish talismanic way of averting and getting protection from the evil eye, or more generally of providing a "protecting hand" or "Hand of God". It appears, often in stylised form, as a hand with three fingers raised, and sometimes with two thumbs arranged symmetrically.
"All of our products, including the new Hamsa, are made in Israel", said Ohad Rosen, co-chairman of Jewishop. "Our main goal is to support the Israeli industries and Israeli economy", he added and mentioned that the vision of the founders was to tighten and strengthen the bond between Israel and the Jewish people around the world.
