March 26, 2007

A FREE global health education event open to the general public, World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, is now listed on the US Dept. of Health & Human Services National Health Observance Calendar.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 26, 2007 -- Reuters recently reported that Tai Chi has been proven to "boost the immune system," and "help those with Type 2 Diabetes," joining a growing awareness led by cutting edge medical research on ancient health technologies.

Below is some global media on World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, and international effort designed to inform the world of this oft under-reported medical research, and to offer the general public "a taste" of these wonderful exercises. The 2007 events are upcoming on Saturday, April 28th, 2007 (10 am worldwide):

"Tai chi, a 2,000-year-old form of exercise, is non-competitive, gentle and self-paced. Anyone can do it, and the benefits are extensive.

Tai chi is a combination of biofeedback, visualization and gentle exercise movements that together have a profound impact on mental, physical and emotional health," says Bill Douglas, founder and international director of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, which takes place April 29 this year. "Tai chi is used as therapy for chronic pain and limited mobility, but its greatest power is preventive. . . .

Studies of tai chi show it reduces blood pressure, episodes of anxiety and depression, and symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It also helps give a boost to the immune system, builds bone mass, and improves chronic pain, limited mobility, balance and coordination.

===================================

". . . it can change one's disposition: "After practising over a period of time, a hot-tempered man will change into a gentle man." . . . numerous Taoist masters have turned westward and brought an extraordinary tradition of knowledge with them, including tai chi.

This is an art that needs no special place, fancy equipment or expensive outlay, and its regular practice can build up grace, beauty and strength in a remarkable way, whatever age one may be.

Maybe we should have World Tai Chi and Qigong Day every week."

The global health care budget is in the trillions. A twenty-year study at Kaiser Permenente found that 70 to 85% of the illnesses sending patients to their physicians were caused by stress. Not aggravated by stress but "caused" by stress. This indicates the world could save hundreds of billions of dollars annually in saved healthcare spending, by providing training in stress management techniques.

Mind/Body technologies like Tai Chi & Qigong (pronounced chee gong) have been researched for thousands of years, and are now available in virtually all countries in the world. Tai Chi & Qigong have been proven to be one of the most powerful and profoundly beneficial stress management techniques know to humankind.
