They said that they did not know what causes breast cancer. They said that the disease could not be prevented. They said it could not be cured. They lied!
For_Immediate_Release:

March 28, 2007 (Press Release) -- In the UK almost 44,100 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed, 43,760 female cases and around 335 cases diagnosed in males. Breast cancer causes more than 12,500 deaths each year in the UK. A little known statistic is that more American women have died of breast cancer in the last twenty years than the number of Americans killed in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined?

These statistics are appalling yet, despite millions of pounds spent on research, the death toll continues to rise alarmingly. According to Breast Cancer Action one in seven women will get this dreaded disease at sometime in their life.
Yet, according to author Fred Harding, in his latest book Breast Cancer "Cause - Prevention - Cure" (ISBN: 0955422108) these deaths could have been avoided. Furthermore, he says that for those who have been afflicted with the disease, there is now a cure that was discovered by doctors at one of America's leading universities. However, this cure, derived from a natural herb, has been hushed up until a synthetic version of the drug can be produced. A drug derived from a natural herb cannot be patented, and therefore the drug companies cannot make any money unless an alternative is produced. Even the university concerned has had to describe the cure with kid gloves:

"While there is still much work to be done before this new treatment can be officially declared "a cure", there is no question that the preliminary results are extraordinary." - University of Washington (BIOe Winter 2002) However, this has not stopped the university from declaring that they were developing the drug. (Medical News Today (15 Oct 2004).

Also, in 2004, a $42.6 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was made to the Institute for OneWorld Health to develop a synthetic affordable, replacement for the drug that is currently derived from a plant species grown primarily in China.

The primary focus for breast cancer, according to the Fred Harding, is directed towards the early diagnosis of the disease. Emphasis is placed on treatment and not prevention. This, the author says, is like closing the stable door after the horse had bolted. The message of prevention is hidden behind a smoke screen of rhetoric that says that early detection is the best way of tackling the disease. This is not good science. By virtue of its nature, if "early detection is the solution" then it will mean that for any detection to take place a woman will have had got breast cancer first. This is hardly what one would call good medical practice and no other disease is treated in such a shoddy way, says Fred Harding. But then there is no money to be made from prevention and it is little wonder that the Cancer Industry is a multi-billion dollar industry when they promote treatments and not prevention.
