RTI Enables Development of Distributed Real-Time Java Applications
RTI Enables Development of Distributed Real-Time Java Applications
RTI Data Distribution Service integration with Real-Time Specification for Java (RTSJ)brings true real-time messaging to Java developers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 1, 2007 --
At Embedded Systems Conference SV Real Time Innovations (RTI), The Real-Time Middleware Experts, today announced that it has added extensions to RTI Data Distribution Service to take advantage of Real-Time Specification for Java (RTSJ)-compliant Java Runtime Environments (JREs). With these extensions, developers can take advantage of the real-time messaging capabilities of RTI Data Distribution Service in conjunction with real-time Java programming to develop high-performance and predictable distributed applications.
Java programming provides a structured, safe, well understood and portable development and execution environment. However, adoption of Java development for real-time applications has been limited because commercial JREs have not been able to deliver predictable behavior. RTSJ addresses these limitations by providing developers with many standard real-time capabilities, including priority-based thread scheduling, high-resolution timers and asynchronous event-handlers. RTI Data Distribution Service has been fully integrated with the RTSJ extensions in IBM WebSphere Real Time. Support for other RTSJ implementations is also planned.
Price & Availability
RTIs RTSJ Extensions Kit for RTI Data Distribution Service and IBM WebSphere Real Time is available immediately for Red Hat Enterprise Linux hosts. Pricing begins at $7,200, which includes maintenance and support. RTI Data Distribution Service is licensed separately. It is available today for many operating-system and processor combinations, including Windows, Windows CE and Windows Mobile; Solaris; Linux; LynuxWorks LynxOS; QNX Neutrino; Wind River VxWorks; and Green Hills INTEGRITY configurations. A complete development package for $84,600 USD includes a comprehensive Architecture Study from an RTI expert who will provide written design recommendations based on an evaluation of application requirements, plus two days of customer-specific training, one week of follow-up consulting, and one year of maintenance and support.
