April 3, 2007 (Press Release) --
BALTIMORE, MD (April 3, 2007) – Zing!, makers of charmingly illustrated greeting cards and unique handcrafted home accessories, today announced the addition of an African American jewelry girl, Cherie, to www.zingthings.com.
"Being a part of a minority group ourselves, we know what it's like to have limited options when it comes to handcrafted items we can really relate to," said Sutisa Mullinix, who was born in the U.S., but whose mother is originally from Thailand. "We felt that creating a jewelry holder with African Americans in mind was an important addition to the Zing lineup. We try to gear products toward everyone, regardless of race or sexual orientation."
The adorable African-American jewelry holder Cherie organizes and displays earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. A combination of painted wood with wire and embellishments, she measures 11"W x 22"H.
This is not the first diverse product introduced by Zing. Some of Zing's products, such as their baby photo album, allow customers to choose from different skin tones. A number of Zing's greeting cards feature Asian characters and an entire section is devoted to the gay and lesbian community.
Zingthings.com offers more than 100 items ranging from funky jewelry holders and whimsical angel plaques to sweet and sometimes saucy greeting cards featuring a host of characters, including lively drawn cowboys, nuns and pirates. Zing! was founded in 2001 by two friends, Dawn Campbell and Sutisa Mullinix, who are self-trained craft artists, woodworkers, illustrators and humorists from Baltimore, Maryland.
