April 6, 2007 (Press Release) --
Besides the “Brown” and “Deer” tick in the northeast this year we can expect some sign, and stories, of the “Lone Star” tick. Normally found in the Southwest the “Lone Star” has appeared on Long Island and in the lower Hudson Valley. It isn't like a deer tick that waits in ambush for you to happen by. As small as the Deer tick the Lone Star tick can sense a potential host from as far away as 40 feet and will give chase and attempt to get to you or your pets. If you are just sitting around or walking rather slow they will make a meal of you.
