WHERE: University at Buffalo’s Woldman Theatre (Norton Hall Room 112, North Campus)

WHO: Buffalo Turkish Community Foundation (BTCF) & Rumi Dialogue Group Student Association (RDGSA) at SUNY at Buffalo
WHY: To celebrate Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi’s 800th birth anniversary & to promote better understanding among various cultures and communities in Buffalo area.
HOW: Admission is Free. Open to public.
BTCF is a nonprofit organization established in 2006 to promote better understanding and closer relations between Turkish and American communities in Buffalo. RDGSA is a student organization at SUNY at Buffalo that is dedicated to bridging the gap between different cultural groups within the diverse UB community.
The film, “Rumi-Turning Ecstatic”, tells the story of Canadian filmmaker, Tina Petrova, who shares her extraordinary encounter (a true story) with Rumi (13th century - one of the most influential mystic poets of all times) as she leads the audience on a road trip of discovery across America to the shifting sands of the Middle East - seeking out scholars who animate his works in the world today.
