Based on 50 interviews with Asia Pacific retail banks
Coverage of all the main emerging markets: China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, S. Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong
Research and analysis highlights
Retail banking organizations in Asia Pacific are dominated by revenue generation , improving customer satisfaction and aligning with regulatory and industry standards. Alignment is driving attention to reporting capabilities in operations.
IT expenditure is driven primarily by Basel II regulations, with corporate governance and anti-money laundering initiatives also important. APAC banks look to North America or Europe for best practices, such as independent rules implementation.
Roughly half of the market is currently seeking to reduce costs of running core systems either though implementing new technologies or application rationalization and streamlining of application architecture.
