Wells stated, "We are islanders and islanders learn to do for themselves, so I just go sick and tried of being told what my options when I wanted cup of fresh roasted gourmet coffee. What they where selling at the local supermarket would not do it for me, so I approached my kids and said we are starting a coffee roasting company, so get ready."

I must say, your Black Flag espresso is the best espresso I

have tasted (and I am very picky and have tasted many). It has
a wonderful gold crema and awesome complex taste. I have
ordered all the major brands - Illy, Lavazza, etc etc and nothing
comes close to your Black Flag. I tried the Villa Espresso - that
is very good - similar to Lavazza oro Gold but better (probably
because of the freshness). I just received another shipment from
you and this time I also order the Boatyard, but I opened the Black
Flag first as I know how much I love that. I also can't wait to taste the Boatyard. Thanks for the great and FRESH coffee. Next time we

come down to Key West we will stop by (maybe in July or August).

Blind assessment:
Cocoa, banana and a hint of cedar in the fine aroma. In the small
cup big-bodied, gently and sweetly pungent, with a rich, orange-toned
cedar character and cocoa notes that round toward chocolate. Rich
short finish, very slightly astringent in the long, but sweet chocolate suggestions persist throughout. Remains in sturdy control in milk, though it never quite sweetens and blossoms.

A smoothly robust straight shot that remains stubbornly unvanquished in milk.

Blind Assessment: Very sweet-toned aroma with floral hints. In the small cup medium-bodied and slightly lean in mouthfeel, crisp, cedary, with raisiny, licorice-toned fruit. Slightly heavy finish but excellent flavor persistence, with the fruit turning toward chocolate. Comes into its own in milk, where it is balanced and roundly rich, with deep semi-sweet chocolate character.

Your coffee is fantasic..my first order was taken care of quickly and I even received some bonus coffee. My new favorite coffee is Black Flag and 90 mile stretch. The best thing I ever did was order a espresso machine the next best was Ordering from Island Joes.

I received my order from Island Joe's coffee and my husband was thrilled. We had planned to vacation in the Keys last fall but a little thing called a hurricane damaged our home and nixed the plans. This is my third batch of Island Joe's coffee and I would just like to tell you how much my family and I enjoy your coffee, I think it's the best coffee we've ever had. We found your shop last summer when we made our annual trip to Key West. We always stay in Truman Annex and we just happened on your shop on the way up to Duval Street. We took a bag of Misty Morning home with us and we have been hooked ever since. Plain coffee won't do any more it has to be Island Joe's. Keep up the good work !!

Just wanted to thank you for the time you took on this past Friday providing insight into your coffees and roasting techniques. Our family was travelling for the first time to Key West from Halifax, Nova Scotia and our 12 year old family member, Jack, now has some first hand information to pass along in his school presentation on coffee this week! The new 90 Mile Stretch espresso is awesome...very thick golden crema - looks like honey pouring from the portafilter. It got a 90 out of 100 from coffeereview.com. It is nice and bold but also sweet. Still a toss up between this and Black Flag...I love both.
