April 11, 2007 (Press Release) --
CHINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--It’s no mystery that modern day life creates stress, but nearly all Americans are feeling the need to relax, according to a recent national survey conducted by Harris Interactive® for Sundance Spas. Just in time for National Stress Awareness Month, the survey found nine in ten adults (94 percent) say it is at least “somewhat important” to relax after a stressful day, with more than half (54 percent) saying it is “very important” to do so.
Work and travel are the greatest sources of stress, with about three out of four adults saying they need to relax afterward (work – 76 percent; travel – 73 percent). But even visiting with family creates an urgent need to relax among 42 percent of adults.
So what are the top ways U.S. adults relax with all this stress? Mostly they spend time alone (78 percent), but more than half (59 percent) also find relief in a warm water soak. And while many adults (35%) enjoy relaxing in a hot tub alone, 61 percent would rather spend this time with someone else, most commonly their spouse or significant other (48 percent).
“Relieving stress is clearly important to most people, but finding the time to do so can be difficult. One advantage of our insulated, portable hot tubs is that they can be enjoyed at a moment’s notice, bringing relief with a short fifteen minute soak,” said Erica Moir, Vice President of Marketing, Design and Product Development for Sundance Spas. “The best part is that you can enjoy a hot tub alone or with your spouse and friends, depending on your mood and what brings you individual stress relief.”
Unlike a simple bath, hot tubs provide significant therapeutic benefits through hydromassage - the combination of warm water, buoyancy and the massaging action of powerful jets. In addition to reducing stress, relaxing tired and sore muscles and relieving minor aches and pains from exercise, hydromassage helps ease arthritis pain and can help induce a restful sleep.
“In many ways, hot tubs are the perfect stress reliever, combining the mental relief of quiet downtime with the therapeutic benefits of hydromassage,” said Moir.
