On Wednesday night, it was evident that her advice fell on a few tone-deaf ears. Singing Enrique Iglesias' "Bailamos" ("We Dance"), they collectively performed with all of the enthusiasm of a bunch of pimple-faced wallflowers at a seventh-grade sock hop.
It was up to Lopez to show them just how it's done. She succeeded in a passionate, lively performance of "Que Hiciste" ("What Have You Done") from her new Spanish-language album "Como Ama una Mujer."
As much as Simon may complain about Sanjaya's advancement in the competition, producers know Sanjaya is one of the reasons people are tuning in each week. Host Ryan Seacrest kept America in suspense by having the singer stand and sit twice before ultimately coming back to him and announcing he was safe this week.
In the bottom three this week: Haley, Phil and Chris. Ultimately, not even short shorts could save Haley. She just couldn't turn the beat around. And by turn, we mean sing on key.
The mayor, who appeared in a tuxedo, said Glocksen was a credit to the city. But her stay in the western suburb might end soon. Glocksen plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue a singing career after she finishes the "American Idol" tour, which is slated for July.
"I think Sanjaya will win," said Glocksen in answer to a question. The audience laughed at her sarcasm. Sanjaya Malakar has been labeled the worst "Idol" finalist ever by many show critics.

Jennifer Lopez had given perhaps the best advice of any mentor on "American Idol" this season. "You've got to connect with the song and feel the passion," she told the would-be songsters.
