This subsidiary will leverage on the Anadis R&D programs, expanding commercial and research programs, establishing commercial partners and gaining access to public and private funding within the important US market. Anadis had retained BioVance Medical LLC to provide the management for this new entity.
Anadis is an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX Symbol: ANX) listed Australian biotechnology company with proprietary technology, and a product pipeline for immediate acting "passive" immunity solutions to a range of important infectious and chronic diseases. Specific applications of the core technology addresses a $20 Billion market for gastrointestinal disorders prevention & treatment, currently being served by companies including Glaxo (NYSE: GLAXO.NS), Pfeizer (NYSE:PFE) , Elan NYSE: ELN), Biogen (NASADQ:BIIB) and Salix (NASDAQ: SLXP). In addition, the company has a program for the $2 Billion market to address pandemic (including avian) and annual influenza as part of the flu and cold remedy market currently served by Wyeth, MedImmune (NASDQ: MEDI) and Roche. The company is also addressing the over $5bn BioDefence market, including a recently announced program for the diagnosis, containment and decontamination of bio-warfare agents including Anthrax.
Passive immunity provides direct and immediate immunological benefits and may particularly aid those not able to either mount full protective immune responses to existing vaccines, (e.g. high-risk and elderly), or able to neutralize toxins (naïve populations).
Anadis formulated products, which are / will be delivered via oral and respiratory routes are patented and have proprietary manufacturing methods which enable rapid, high volume production.
A significant competitive advantage of the Anadis technology is that a number of the Anadis product line avoids the need for a New Drug Application (NDA), expensive Phase III clinical trials and time-consuming review process currently required for most synthetic biotechnology products, drugs and biologics.
The Anadis technology platform includes a separate patent-pending formulation to shield orally administered proteins from degradation during passage through the stomach. This stand-alone technology has the additional major potential for use as part of novel oral or respiratory tract delivery system for the next generation of vaccines and therapeutic proteins.
BioVance Medical has experience and expertise in pharmaceutical development and commercialization and links into the US research and pharmaceutical community. BioVance Medical will also provide strategic financial advice. The principals of BioVance Medical, including Dr. Zeil Rosenberg and Dr. Oren Fuerst have over 35 years of experience between them in the areas of Health Care, Capital Markets and Product Commercialization.
