April 14, 2007 (Press Release) --
My visits to many places in Korea impressed me a lot.
Especially, the bright faces of women and children enabled me to picture their future to myself.
I think the Korean women are very happy. It’s because they have a wise leader who attaches great importance to the women problem and foresees their distant future. The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital alone makes it easy to understand how much importance the state attaches to the women problem.
Looking round the central hall with its floor paved with all kinds of jewels, various treatment rooms, laboratories and wards, I saw women enjoying the free medical care and all kinds of benefits in the hospital grandiosely built at the state’s expense.
It is something unimaginable in Africa.
And the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace, a children’s comprehensive extracurricular education centre, was quite admirable.
The future of a nation depends on how to bring up children.
Now many countries of the world have no right systems for the bringing up of children, so their future development is worrying.
But Korean children are learning and developing talents to their hearts’ content, without paying even one cent, in the wonderful palace. Indeed, this is a rare thing that can be seen only in Korea where children are regarded as “kings” or “queens” of the state.
