New youth nonprofit creates awareness of rather unobvious facts such as:
One dollar saves 20 children from blindness.

A handful of teenagers formally launched a non-profit organization- Youth Taking Action, geared towards creating socially aware leaders of the future. YTA’s web driven programs would instill values such as sharing, caring and compassion in the participants (10-18 years). The initial two programs show how small actions such as foregoing a soda a month could possibly rescue many children from going blind elsewhere in the world.
YTA has just released a sophisticated online portal that allows for groups of teenagers to participate in such programs. YTA rewards participants for raising funds, referring friends, volunteering, etc. with reward points termed as PhiCoins (Phi-lanthropy Coins). Members can redeem their PhiCoins for prizes, such as magazine subscriptions. In the near future, YTA will organize another appealing incentive – highly active participants will get the opportunity to speak with their favorite celebrities on the phone for short durations.
Gautam Jain, Founder, was inspired by a reading a book "Free the Children" by 12-year-old Craig Kielburger who has been working towards eliminating child labor and similar causes. This reinforced his belief that age must not be a limiting factor when it comes to helping somebody in need. In his words, “Each individual has compassion within him/her. If we could bring this passion to the forefront, the world would be a much different place today.”
