Medium sized producers of nonwoven roll goods—those which rank 11-30 among the world’s leading companies—play a major role in shaping the global nonwovens business. Global sales of nonwoven roll goods grew by about 5% to US$14 bn in 2003 as the global economy recovered. Sales of medium sized companies, which range from US$88 mn to US$167 mn, accounted collectively for US$2,453 mn— about 18% of the total for the leading 40.
Companies ranking 11-30 include long established as well as new players. Hollingsworth & Vose has been in the business for over 160 years. But Western Nonwovens is a relatively new company. These two US-based companies ranked 12th and 22nd respectively in 2003.
