Actor Chazz Palminteri will perform his one-man autobiographical musical performance, My Life in Song on Saturday and Sunday at Studio A at the NBC Tower, 454 N. Columbus.

RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE

For those who want to step out against child abuse, join the Wrigley Start Early Run 5K/10K Run & Walk on Saturday beginning at the Lincoln Park Zoo, 2200 N. Cannon. COOKS' CORNER
The 14th annual Chefs' Fest runs 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Arlington Park Racecourse in northwest suburban Arlington Heights. The event, which spotlights top local chefs such as Michael Pivoney from the Signature Room, features a sampling of cuisines and beverages from more than 60 local restaurants. LA MUSICA LATINA

Los Folkloristas sees itself first and foremost as "being workers of the culture," specifically, the indigenous music of Mexico and Latin America. Founded in 1966, the seven-member group specializes in traditional acoustic styles such as son huasteco and huapango.Drawing on its vast 100-piece collection, the band features native unusual "found" instruments including dried butterfly cocoons and turtle shells. It also advances a socially conscious agenda, in the manner of nueva cancionpioneers like Victor Jara and Pablo Milanes. FUNNYBONES

The 10th annual Chicago Improv Festival kicks off on Monday and runs through April 29 at several venues around town. Opening night begins at 7 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Randolph, with a free event featuring performances by CIF members Joe Bill, Susan Messing and Mark Sutton as well as a performance by international improvisers playing together from Canada, Japan and Norway. Fans of "Saturday Night Live" will want to catch Seth Meyers on Thursday night at the Athenaeum Theatre and Amy Poehler with the Upright Citizens Brigade on April 28 at Park West. JAZZIN' AROUND
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band will perform Saturday at the North Shore Center for Performing Arts in Skokie.
