April 23, 2007 (Press Release) --
"I think that it's important that we pay attention to the state of planet earth and our stewardship of our environment. There is only have one earth and we must make sure that it is sustainable for our children and their children," stated Imperato.
When asked what people can do to help save the environment, Imperato stressed that everyone can do something in their daily lives to conserve and clean up their piece of the world.
"I don't believe that one person can save the world by themselves or live a perfect eco-friendly lifestyle. However, I do believe that if everyone paid attention and tried to do something in their daily lives such as: recycling, conserving energy, economically driving a hybrid vehicle, eating less meat or following a vegan diet, planting a tree; the earth's resources would go farther and become a better place."
Imperato was also asked on his position on biofuels and their implementation in US automobiles.
"What people don't know is that I have been lobbying for biofuels for several years now. Not only is biofuel good for our environment but it is also good for our relations with Brazil, the largest and most efficient producer of biofuels. The United States has been known throughout its history for innovation. Now we must use that innovation to help save our environment."
Imperato concluded the interview answering questions on why the administration and Congress hasn't done more to help the environment.
"The reality is that between Democrats and Republicans nothing gets done in Congress. I believe there are members of congress and the administration that sincerely want to do something for the environment but cannot due to political gridlock. That's why we need to make a divide in the political aisle and bring an independent to the White House. There needs to be someone in the White House who will not bow down to the special interests and who will make for a Better America, and a Better World."
