QUANTUM3D INDEPENDENCE IG SOLUTIONS SELECTED BY ROCKWELL COLLINS FOR U.S. NAVY TH-57C FLIGHT
Quantum3D Independence IDX 2500 IG Solutions, Facets Realtime Models, and GeoScapeSE and NPSI Synthetic Environments Provide Ongoing High-Fidelity Support for U.S.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 24, 2007 --
COLOGNE, GERMANY, ITEC 2007April 24, 2007 Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of COTS, open-architecture, realtime visual computing solutions, today announced that Rockwell Collins has purchased three (3) additional Independence IDX 2500 IG Solutions for use in the U.S. Navy TH-57C Flight Instrument Trainer (FIT) program. Previously selected by Rockwell Collins for the program in 2004, the IDX 2500 was certified as Ready-for-Training (RFT) by the U.S. Navy as part of the Rockwell Collins Simulation and Training Solutions TH-57C FIT simulators delivered in April, 2005. Located at Whiting Field near Pensacola, Florida, the TH-57C FIT systems are used by new U.S. Navy helicopter pilots for primary flight and instrument training. The TH-57C FIT enables U.S. Navy pilots to train in highly realistic, simulated marine and land-based flight scenarios including take-off and landing, navigation, operations, search and rescue, and personnel movement at all times of day and in all types of weather.
The IDX 2500 IG Solution provides high-fidelity out-the-window (OTW) and stimulated Night Vision Goggle (NVG) visuals using Quantum3D GeoScapeSE and U.S. Navy Portable Source Initiative (NPSI) geospecific databases for the TH-57C FIT. For the TH-57C FIT program, the IDX 2500 IG Solutions are equipped with host-controllable, realistic weather, marine and rotorwash effects that enable high-fidelity training over a broad range of scenarios. The IDX 2500 marine-effects package provides 3D sea-state and ship wakes to provide realistic motion cues and indications for critical maritime training. The IDX 2500 rotorwash effects provide realistic simulation of obscuration that occurs in landing scenarios or operations over dusty terrain or water. Additionally, the TH-57C system features Quantum3D's enhanced lighting systems including IFLOLS, SGSI, HARS, PAPI and VASI, combined with Quantum3Ds unique Continuous Model Scaling (CMS) and support for Boston Dynamics DI-Guy to provide precision shipboard and land-based landing training procedures with Landing Signal Officer (LSO) support. These features, coupled with Quantum3Ds stimulated NVG capability which enables Navy pilots to use their actual NVG goggles during training, coupled with support for Quantum3D GeoScapeSE and NPSI databases, provide the Navy with high-fidelity simulated visuals and critical training cues for TH-57C pilots.
"The TH-57C FIT is an important primary helicopter pilot training program for Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) that requires uncompromising fidelity and value," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and president. "Our partnership with Rockwell Collins and the U.S. Navy to provide enduring, high-fidelity, low total-cost-of-ownership TH-57C training, as well as precision geospecific synthetic environments and support for open standards like NPSI and CIGI, contributes to a total solution for this program and future flight-training programs.
