April 27, 2007 (Press Release) --
World Filters 2009 & 2014 for 15 countries
Global demand to grow 5.6% per year through 2009
Global demand for filters is forecast to expand 5.6 percent per year through 2009 to $45 billion. Market advances will be driven by a pickup in world economic and personal income growth; increased building construction activity, manufacturing output, motor vehicle use and water consumption; and stricter environmental and product purity laws and regulations in a number of countries. Sales gains in developing parts of the world will outpace product demand in the US, Western Europe and Japan.
China to surpass Japan as second largest market
China will record the largest growth of any national market as the nation continues to develop and seek solutions to its air and water pollution problems. By 2009, China will surpass Japan to become the second largest filter market in the world behind the US. Market advances are also expected to be strong in India, Turkey, Indonesia, Russia and Thailand. Nevertheless, the US, Western Europe and Japan will remain the most intensive users of filtration products, accounting for three-fifths of world demand in 2009. Increases in aftermarket filter demand in these areas will be supported by the large numbers of motor vehicles and other filter-using equipment in use. Ongoing efforts to reduce air and water pollution levels — as exemplified by new regulations that will necessitate particulate filters on diesel engine — will also help boost filter demand.
