April 27, 2007 (Press Release) --
World HVAC Equipment to 2010 & 2015
HVAC equipment demand worldwide to increase 5% annually through 2010
World demand for HVAC equipment is projected to rise over five percent per year through 2010, with developing nations expected to register the strongest market gains. Demand in the Asia/Pacific region, in particular China, will continue to benefit from above-average urban population growth and healthy gains in the number of households. Above-average growth will occur in the Africa/Mideast region due to solid gains in the number of households and rising per capita incomes. Eastern Europe will also post strong gains, reflecting rising standards of living in the region.
Advances in the developed regions will be fueled by generally favorable economic conditions and higher income levels, leading to a step-up in building construction activity. Gains in Western Europe will also result from increased consumer exposure to automotive air conditioning. As consumers become accustomed to the benefits of air conditioning, they will increasingly expect it in their homes. The US HVAC equipment market will lag global gains, due to the relatively high rate of penetration for air conditioners. Growth in Japan will result from the nation’s economic recovery.
Room air conditioners spur cooling equipment gains
Cooling equipment growth will continue to outpace heating equipment gains through 2010, reflecting the lower penetration rates of air conditioning equipment. Room air conditioners are expected to exhibit healthy gains through 2010 due to their popularity in Asia, in particular the rapidly growing Chinese market. In addition, low ownership rates in the countries of Western Europe (relative to other industrialized nations such as the US and Japan) will present opportunities.
