April 27, 2007 (Press Release) --
The 18th annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous is scheduled for September 13-16, 2007 in downtown San Bernardino and the city’s signature event features several changes. The number of registered vehicles will be limited to 1,900, and all participants will receive a reserved parking space and assigned space number included with their $70.00 registration fee. For more information visit www.route-66.org.
Last year, the Rendezvous offered a limited number of reserved parking spaces to participants and all spaces sold out within the first month. “We received many positive comments from participants who were relieved that they could cruise knowing that their space would be waiting for them when they returned,” Rendezvous Director of Operations, Shelly McNaul, said. “It created a more relaxed atmosphere for participants and eliminated the need to illegally rope off areas and camp out.”
Other changes for the Rendezvous include a single vehicle registration cut-off date of August 1, 2007, and new event and cruise times. The new event hours are Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14 from 6:00pm-9:00pm, Saturday, September 15 from 9:00am-9:00pm, and Sunday, September 16 from 9:00am-4:00pm.
Vehicle Registration Forms will be released to the public during the middle of May 2007. Registration will be open to the first 1,900 approved vehicles, model years 1900-1973 and any year Corvette, Prowler or Viper.
The Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous is the largest cruisin’ classic car show on the West Coast and largest automotive celebration of the historic Route 66 Highway. The Route 66 Rendezvous’ sponsor displays, live entertainment, vendors, legendary guests, and car contests transform the 35-blocks of downtown San Bernardino into an automotive paradise.
