April 30, 2007 (Press Release) --
Amman, Jordan, (April 2007) – Leading and socially conscious Jordanian company, National Paints recently took part in the14th Annual Dead Sea Ultra Marathon (DSUM), an event that took place on April 13th 2007, which was organized by the Society for Care of Neurological Patients (SCNP).
Commenting on the firm’s participation in this event, Mr. Michael Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Al Sayegh Group, said, “We are proud to be taking part in the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon, for this event falls directly within our quest to promote initiatives that promise a better lifestyle for our fellow community members. The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon is an event that has gained great local and international acclaim, for it is one founded on the noble cause of supporting the Neurological patents in Jordan. We on this occasion salute the efforts of the SCNP, and we hope that through our participation we have contributed to the success of their endeavors. From another angle, we hope that we have contributed to Jordanian efforts to promote the Kingdom’s youth and sports arena both locally and regionally, and we hope that together with the SCNP we have helped put Jordan on the international sports map”.
As part of its participation in the event, National Paints set up a water station on the DSUM race course. The firm also distributed gifts to runners as they crossed the marathon’s finish line.
What’s worth mentioning, National Paints, one of the largest paint consortiums in the Middle East, constantly allocates a substantial amount of its annual budget to sponsoring Jordanian social and developmental activities. In addition to the groups’ own socially beneficial activities, in the past National Paints has formed alliances with various organization and NGOs including the Greater Amman Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and others.
As part of its strong sense of social responsibility the firm recently played a pivotal role in the Vote for Petra Campaign, and it also contributed JD 100 thousand worth of paint products to the Greater Amman Municipality’s initiative to re-paint and renovate areas in Eastern Amman.
It is important to note that the DSUM this year was attended by a large number of Jordanian volunteers, all of whom were very eager to assist the organizers of the event and the runners and to ensure that the event had successfully achieved its noble goal. The event itself was a great success, as it saw a notable local, regional, and international level of participation.
