May 3, 2007 (Press Release) --
Author Carolyn R Scheidies delves into her childhood with her latest release SAGEBRUSH, which is filled with stories not only of her own childhood in Wyoming and the lessons she learned, but also how she told those stories to her children as they experienced both successes, and problems.
SAGEBRUSH, has today’s children learning about the 50’s generation through true-to-life stories and learning age-old lessons along the way with the addition of a theme, Scripture tie-in, memorization verses and TAQ (Talk About Questions) at the end of each short chapter. The approach brings freshness to sharing memories and helps the children assimilate Biblical principles in a fun and interesting way while gaining a historical perspective. It can become part of a bedtime ritual or a weekly family night.
Scheidies said, “Regardless of the time in which we live, we all have much in common. Fundamental problems of honesty, anger and fear remain the same. Each generation still has to choose whether or not to do what’s right or what’s wrong. God's love and forgiveness also remain the same, as does His offer of salvation.”
SAGEBRUSH can be read alone, read in a classroom setting, or used as part of family devotions.
These stories are based on stories Scheidies told her own children about her childhood in Lance Creek, Wyoming. Though many of the names have been changed and incidents modified, the stories are essentially true.
Carolyn R. Scheidies is a working journalist with a degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She’s had over two dozen books published, several of which garnered writing awards: Her published credits include children’s stories and children’s program material to a variety of publications for over 30 years. Scheidies has been involved with the local public library "Friends of the Library" organization for years in both president, past-president and director capacities where she has worked with the TRACE (To Reach a Child Early) program for new mothers. She worked with PUPS--a church puppet team for years, has taught all ages in Sunday School, been a nursery supervisor, and was director of the church Pioneer Club program for several years after being on the committee for some ten years. During that time Scheidies sold material to the Pioneer Club flagship magazine.
