San Antonio, TX entrepreneur launches "The World's First Billion Penny Pixel Advertising Site" at http://www.pixdle.com, loosely based off of Alex Tew's original idea. His goal: “To be the first website to sell one billion pixels worth of ad space.”
In January 06, Tew's "Million Dollar Homepage" received worldwide media attention when it sold one million online pixels ads. The ads were sold in 10x10 pixel blocks at $1 per pixel and will remain online and unchanged for 5 years. Although Tew's Web site has been cloned since then (well over 3000 pixel ad web sites), none of their creators were successful at becoming a millionaire from it the way Tew did.
With its launch, Pixdle lays down the gauntlet with its incentive based, thousand grid traditional style pixel advertising site. Unlike its predecessor, Pixdle's pixel ad space is only one penny per pixel and will remain online through 2020. Pixdle also allows its advertisers the ability to update their ad space at any time for the life of the ad. Pixdle boasts a built in grid randomizer, a unique incentive based search engine, and special exposure for those advertisers purchasing 1 million pixel ads. To top it all off, Pixdle states that for each 1 million dollars sold in pixel ads, it will give away ten thousand dollars to ten of its advertisers, and if all one billion pixels are sold before December 31, 2020, fifty-thousand dollars to two of its advertisers.
When the creator of Pixdle, Brad Martindale (31), was asked how he came up with the idea, he said, "I took an idea that was already successful and looked at ways to make it better. That's what I was always told as a kid and even today as an engineer. I was intrigued by Tew's idea but thought it was too expensive, too limiting to the advertiser, too hard to maintain, and didn't offer its visitors or advertisers enough incentives."
Martindale adds, "I took the original idea and made it my own. I made it a place where both advertisers and visitors would be enticed to visit, yet left it alone enough that it would remain familiar with the avid pixel ad crowd."
Pixdle is currently seeking national support from US businesses. Although only days old, Pixdle has already sold 17 ads on 5,800 pixels nationwide. This has been done with virtually no site promotion. It seems the advertisers that are managing to find their way to the site are taking nicely to the new approach and jumping on board for the ride. With all of its unique features, its intrigue, the passion and creativity of its support team, and its already proven success; there are elements in place that should help Pixdle succeed in its goal of selling affordable, incentive based advertising to local, national, even global businesses and ventures.
