May 7, 2007 (Press Release) --
The Test of English for International Communications. Just released, a new TOEIC preparation website that can help people wishing to sit the TOEIC. The website at www.onlineenglish.de/toeicprep/ was developed by the founder of www.hamburg-english.de
The website includes hundreds of lessons and exercises. It is full of tips and advice to allow users to understand the question types and learn for the test. The website boasts a "performance monitor" which builds a detailed graph of a person's language skills showing where they need training or improvement. Upon first using the website, members are invited to sit a limited TOEIC test. This test shows the member's estimated TOEIC level.
The website is trainer supported and members have their own personal trainer, who is there to answer questions and help them learn. The site includes a Forum and many more useful things for member enjoyment and development.
At the moment the webmaster is offering a 5 day free trial. Full membership costs only 35,00 Euro for one month and includes free access to www.onlineenglish.de.
The need for the TOEIC
More and more people are realising the need for a language qualification in business. It is ironic that currently, although a person must be qualified in the core skill of their profession, in many cases, they do not need to be qualified in the language they may use in their profession. In many job interviews just the judgement of the interviewer (sometimes a non-native English interviewer, whose own English ability may be questionable) is all the qualification needed.
For people, this could mean that their fully qualified engineer, saleman, accountant or lawyer for instance, could actually be far from qualified, when working with the English language.
Away from the consumer side. Let us look at the company. I don't think companies realise exactly how much money, time and loss of competent customer perception it costs them by having people in job positions, whose English is just not up to the level required.
