May 8, 2007 (Press Release) --
The fashion world may have gone crazy over celebrity collections like the recent Kate Moss for Topshop line, but at Indie Quarter (www.indiequarter.com) website it's the independent designers who are getting their chance to shine.
"As the High Street is driven by multiples, it can be very difficult for independent boutiques to survive," says Indie Quarter owner, Jenny Hudson, who started the site in order to provide a platform for small, creative companies to promote their products free of charge. "The internet has become a real haven for small companies, and lots of indie communities have started to pop up online. Indie Quarter gives them a no-cost way to promote themselves, and show the word what they have to offer!"
The blog features designers from a wide variety of different disciplines, with everything from up and coming fashion labels, ceramics and textile designers to contemporary art, makeup and skincare. There are also a selection of podcasts featuring interviews with independent designers, and a regular "A Day in the Life" feature which follows designers through a typical day – not that there is such a thing as a "typical day" in the world of indie design!
"We feature all kinds of designers, from people crafting away in their bedrooms to up and coming graduates and slightly more established companies," says Jenny. "There's just so much variety out there, which means that not only is the blog a resource for designers themselves, it's also a great place to browse for unique or handmade fashion and accessories – the type of items no one else will have, and which can become real talking points."
Indie Quarter is updated most weekdays, meaning there's never too long to wait for another dose of fresh, fabulous, innovative style. It's addictive and moreish, and it's absolutely free.
