FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 10, 2007 --
Party in the Park is back for its fourth year and will build on the experience of our previous events to bring a best-ever Digby day to remember. 4 Aug 07 will see upto 5000 visitors travel to RAF Digby for our all-day programme of arena events and musical entertainment which will have something for every family member and all age ranges. Gates open early, with the official opening ceremony to take place at 1300.
The musical line-up includes military music drawing on the Massed Bands of the RAF. They will be accompanied by TNT Soul Explosion, a six-piece soul, blues and covers group drawn from the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment who will play music from artists such as The Blues Brothers, The Commitments, James Brown, Tom Jones and Robbie Williams. TNT Soul Explosion has been very popular with the young and old at past Parties. The RAF Shades of Blue Orchestra, a recently formed 18-piece Big Band, will also provide a wide range of musical styles from Glenn Miller to Phil Collins and Benny Goodman. In addition to the Massed Bands of the RAF further acts will be playing on stage and in the acoustic tent - new for 2007.
In the event arena there will be many events during the daytime to keep the excitement levels high. The ever-popular MOD Police Dog Team will be back with their fast-moving display of defence's finest canines! We also hope to have the final games of both the 5-a-side football and touch rugby tournaments that will be played in the Party in the Park Arena during the afternoon.
At this year's Party in the Park we have once more laid on free children's entertainment throughout the day, including face painting, Punch and Judy, magic tricks and clowns, focusing in the entertainers' pavilion. This will be complemented by the bouncy castle, merry-go-round and the ever-popular giant inflatable slide. There will also be ample shaded rest area to cater for any extremes of the British summer weather.
Once the afternoon’s events are completed a Spitfire flypast, accompanied by the musical Spitfire Prelude, will mark the start of the main musical programme for the evening.
Although many families bring their own refreshments with them, visitors will be able to enjoy the products of a variety of hot food and drink stands throughout the event. We also have a number of exhibitors, traders and charities attending.
The culmination of 2007’s Party will be the trademark spectacular firework display which will last at least a quarter of an hour.
Finally, to accompany the day’s entertainment on stage and in the arena, the Station’s World War II Sector Ops Room Museum will be open to visitors, while our Clay Pigeon shooting club and Go-karting club will be inviting guests to have a go, all in aid of our chosen beneficiary charities (Combat Stress, British Forces Foundation, RAF Music Charitable Trust and local charities).
