May 11, 2007 (Press Release) --
(Beverly, MA) - Kaminski Auctions, one of Massachusetts’ premier antiques and fine art auction houses celebrates spring with an "Under the Tent Auction Weekend", June 2-3, 2007, held on the grounds of Kaminski Auctions in Beverly, Massachusetts. A different auction is planned for each day of the weekend. On Saturday, June 2 an "Attic Treasures" auction takes place at 10:30am, full of furniture, estate pieces and some rare discoveries. On Sunday, June 3, a "Garden Architectural" auction takes place at 1:00pm, with an array of garden ornaments and architectural pieces. These auctions will include the contents of a New Canaan, Connecticut estate full of Gothic furniture and architectural items, along with items from a Victorian home in Magnolia, Massachusetts and from estates in Marblehead and Carlisle, Massachusetts. The auctions are free and open to the public.
Included among the many rare attic treasures is a beautiful Massachusetts 1785 tambour desk. This mahogany desk (est. $7,000 to $9,000) includes two unusual features that place it beyond the ordinary: the combined Chippendale and Hepplewhite design and 4 bow-front cock-beaded drawers with a curved ear drop in the center. This extraordinary piece has been passed down generation-to-generation in the Hawkes family of Saugus. The Hawkes family settled in Saugus prior to 1638 and the family has been there ever since. Adam Hawkes was granted 100 acres of land where iron ore was found which led to the founding of the Saugus Iron Works.
"We are really looking forward to this auction weekend. It will be a lot of fun, and a way to enjoy the world of antiques with the whole family. People are often surprised to find familiar objects that they have seen in their own home. That is when the excitement really begins," comments Frank Kaminski. "Discovering value in items in your attic or basement is always a great surprise. We often help people reveal the treasures in their homes, especially with our free appraisal days every Tuesday at our Beverly location."
The auctions will feature live online bidding through eBay Live Auctions as well as bidding by absentee, telephone, and Live. There will be a 15% buyer’s premium when bidding with Kaminski or 20% buyer’s premium when bidding with eBay Live. Kaminski Auctions is located on 564 Cabot St., Beverly, MA. For more information visit www.KaminskiAuctions.com or call 978-927-2223.
