COUNTDOWN BEGINS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE MEC MASJID
$500,000 still needed to complete the outer Shell

A new MEC masjid at 8601 N. Menard Street in Morton Grove, IL 60053 will soon enter completion phase and enhance the Chicago North suburban landscape. The Masjid expansion Project symbolizes the MCC’s vision and community commitment where spirituality and education merge to bring MEC into a truly spectacular center for prayers, learning and da’wah. Despite the initial setback in which the MCC had to undergo a three-year long legal battle to acquire the Village permit, the project in itself is one of the most amazing success stories in MCC history.
The 525-capacity masjid with a dome and a minaret being constructed on its 4 acre property includes women’s balcony, multi-purpose basement, reading and research library, 224 parking spaces, and adding 11 classrooms to the existing Full-time Islamic school, Pre-KG to 8th grade. Expansion will significantly improve the prayer and educational facilities; it will alleviate the existing hardships for praying in the gym. The entire project would cost $5 Million.
Completion of the outer shell by July 2007 is critical as the Village has put restriction on offering Jumu’a and taraveeh prayers until the shell is completed.
