LONDON (UK): Pakistan's first independent satellite channel and premiere private television network, 'Indus TV' which operates four channels round the clock 'Indus Vision', 'Indus Music', 'Indus News' and 'Channel G' has appointed noted TV and Broadcast media journalist Mumtaz Hamid Rao as its Special Correspondent in the UK.
Widely travelled, Rao is one of the senior most electronic media journalists and analysts of Pakistan. He joined Pakistan Television (PTV) in 1965 from the Pakistan Press Institute, where he was Chief Reporter in Lahore and retired as the Head of News and Current Affairs of PTV. Simultaneously he contributes his inputs, on issues of global significance, to national and international newspapers as a freelance analyst.
Educated at Murray College in Sialkot and later at the University of Punjab, where he graduated in Law, he has been responsible for conducting a number of journalistic courses in PTV. He headed the News and Current Affairs department in Lahore in 1972. In 1979, he made a tour of Europe to study different European network systems and completed a four-month attachment with BBC. He has won numerous awards for his work.
