May 24, 2007 (Press Release) --
(Austin, Texas) – TeraMatch®, the patented technology that drives the advanced reporting and business intelligence of Quantum5’s market surveillance services, has added the capability to provide warnings and analysis of possible insider trading activities. The latest TeraMatch® enhancements for Quantum5 also give financial services firms an unprecedented level of flexibility and control over the types of reports generated for analysis, business intelligence, and regulatory requirements.
“Our research indicated we could use our patented TeraMatch® technology to develop systems for keeping our customers safer from crimes like insider trading and fraud,” said Mark Davies, CTO of Quantum5 and its parent company S3 Matching Technologies. “We’ve added a very sophisticated pattern recognition system that informs users when trading activities become suspicious. Alerts are sent to clients so that they can pursue these trades for investigation and action.”
According to Davies, the recent increases in insider trading and sophisticated fraud prompted Quantum5 to apply TeraMatch® to these costly problems. The SEC has stepped up enforcement and scrutiny of potential insider trading scams and the Quantum5 platform now has the ability to protect financial services firms from potential wrongdoing. TeraMatch® facilitates the design of products and services used by Quantum5 to address complex cross-product trading activities on equities, options, and global assets. TeraMatch® is also powering a number of advanced tools that respond to market demands of better management and improved order flow.
“Trading data is growing exponentially,” says Ben Brown, VP of Product Management for Quantum5. “And criminals are taking advantage of this mega-volume of data as well as the generally unsophisticated monitoring software available today. TeraMatch® leap frogs all current solutions surveilling the market and can handle the data volumes. There’s simply not enough margin for our clients to accept the kind of risk they face today from fraud and insider trading.”
Brown added that Quantum5’s products are focused on delivering a business advantage to their trading venue and broker-dealer clients.
“Our clients aren’t going to buy anything unless there’s obvious value in it for them and we’ve done that,” Brown concluded. “Just ask them.”
