May 24, 2007 (Press Release) --
Robert Redford is an actor, new film promoter and environmentalist among other things. His website, Sundance Channel is more than just promoting new films for the Sundance Film Festival or producing a television series. It also emphasizes the preservation of the environment through its THE GREEN page on the Sundance Channel website. Web blogs and discussions, environmental tips for the day, documentaries and promoting new conservation ideas are highlighted.
During the month of May, THE GREEN is searching for the next big environmental idea. Applicants were requested to submit a 1 minute video of their idea from which a panel of judges selected the top 25 video Semi-Finalist ideas from over 200 submissions. Throughout the remainder of May, website visitors are asked to register and vote for their favorite entry. The top 5 website vote-getters will be designated as Finalists and the judges will select the Grand Prize winner after May 31st.
The AQUS™ by WaterSaver Technologies was pleased to be selected as one of the Semi-Finalist because of its green idea to water conservation.
A “Green” solution to Water Conservation
Many areas of the country, particularly the Southwest United States, have inadequate, expensive water supplies and aquifers that are steadily shrinking. Year in, year out, other areas of the country suffer from drought.
A new, patented product called Aqus re-uses the water from bathroom sinks, filters, purifies, stores and quietly pumps it into the water tank for the toilet where it can be used for flushing. The system saves between 10 and 20 gallons of fresh water each day in a two-person household.
40% of US Water Supply is Flushed Down the Toilet
Incredibly, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water, more than 4.8 billion gallons of water are flushed down US toilets every day. Eliminating the need for scarce, fresh water for flushing would reduce the water use in US households by 30%.
In a typical, two-person household, Aqus can save, on average, approximately 5,000 gallons a year of fresh water that would have been flushed - reducing water consumption charges and wastewater treatment costs.
Water, or the lack of it, is a big problem in many areas of the country. Aqus is an inexpensive, reliable system with a low retail cost ($295).
There’s an interesting video of the system at work at: www.watersavertech.com. Click on AQUS System and then click on demonstration video, or we can also send you this video on a DVD.
Tom Reynolds, President or Mark Sanders, Chairman is available to talk with you about the AQUS, the Sundance Channel’s “What’s the Big Idea” contest, – as well as the growing need for conservation and the existing problems with water supplies in the US.
