May 29, 2007 (Press Release) --
W3Imaging, the web-based document imaging system, is now only available on-line. This completes the change to a completely internet-centric business model and the cost savings are being passed on to the end user; licence fees have been slashed to $1995 per server.
All sales and support are now handled through the W3Imaging website at http://www.w3imaging.com and there are no direct sales and marketing staff.
Although the core solution has been around since the late ‘90s the product was completely rewritten in 2003/2004 and has just had another significant redevelopment to make it suitable for an online-only business model. Customers have to be able to install, configure and maintain the system themselves without consultancy or on-site technical support. The installation wizards are now so friendly that they even offer to automatically download and install the latest version of SQL/Server from Microsoft. A new configuration wizard, remote administration, automated software updates and a completely new UI for the ManagementConsole makes the whole system easier to install, easier to manage and easier to maintain.
Licensing has also been simplified, there is just a per-server licence fee and per-user licensing has been abandoned. The licence fee is now so low, that at $1995 per server a W3Imaging installation can now be bought for an amount comparable to the annual recurring maintenance fees of its major competitors, a fact that W3Imaging hope will encourage more people to try the free evaluation download.
W3Imaging servers run on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. The ultra-thin, zero-install Viewer requires Microsoft Internet Explorer and does not install any ActiveX components or add-ons on the users’ machines. For more information or to download the free evaluation please visit http://www.w3Imaging.com
