June 1, 2007 (Press Release) --
The European market is posing a tough challenge for the UK listed telephones and mobile phones companies with respect to their pricing strategies. There is steep decline in revenues and margins in the region. Revenues generated 80% of the group's profits
The UK market offers very limited growth as there is complete penetration by the companies providing mobile services and telephones. Even in Spain, there is a decline in the growth figures as the competition gets stiffer. Germany, which is the most profitable market for Vodafone, is experiencing a decline in prices by a large difference of 20- 30%.
While in Europe, the current trend is of cost- cutting, on the other hand, rich countries, like US, still hold immense potential with double digit growth for mobile telephones.
