Brown Sugar, Inc. offers Global Empowerment for Women and Girls
Columbia, MD (May 25, 2007) – Brown Sugar, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing the lives of women and girls. Their mission is to promote positive self-esteem through seminars in order to empower each individual.
Each day millions of women across the nation become victims of violence, poverty, and low-self esteem. In addition, there is a heart-breaking struggle with interpersonal and professional relationships. Many young women between the ages of 10-17 also have the same challenges.
Debbie "Rica" Wilson, president/founder is committed to helping women tap into their greatness. She is currently pursing a Ph.D. in Human Service, and empowerment is very important to her. As a servant-leader and an educator, she has seen the adverse effects that poverty and violence has on women and girls. She is specializing in Family Intervention Strategies; therefore, she realizes the important role that women have in contributing to strong families.
She has had the opportunity to inspire women and girls as a former public school educator and Howard University lecturer. Her unique approach and caring attitude has helped countless women and girls realize their potential.
She implemented several self-help programs for women and children as an undergraduate student at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina. While pursuing a master’s degree in English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she spent a year composing a self-help curriculum for at-risk youth.
Brown Sugar, Inc. will offer a variety of workshops at affordable rates. Participants will have the opportunity to actively engage throughout the lecture, take notes, complete hands-on activities and network during each sixty-minute workshop. Each facilitator will remind the participants that the information is not medical advice, but for personal and professional enhancement only.
Debbie is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., a former board member of the STARR center, and an instructor at Howard Community College.
Debbie currently resides in Columbia, Maryland. She is the author of Sweet Cornbread, a book of poems about life, and owner/operator of Divine Creations Cakes. She enjoys cooking, singing, acting, and spending time with her family.
