Recently, UEFA claimed that Liverpool FC have the worst fans in Europe. This statement is absolutely based on a riot that took place when Liverpool played Milan in the Champions League Final at Athens last May. Liverpool fans were accused to have started a riot against travelling Milan fans. They were also accused of stealing tickets form their fellow fans, charging the gate without ticket, and causing trouble with local authority.
Now, Liverpool fans hit back at UEFA. From the city Mayor to the leader of supporter group, attacked UEFA's statement. They said that UEFA trying to avoid the blame of the disorganization of that final game. As we all know, the final game at Athens was somewhat disappointment on the terms of organization.
Well, I think UEFA shouldn't release such a negative statement regarding Liverpool fans. I know that there was some chaotic situtation at Athens and illegal tickets were also found among the fans. However, that chaotic situtation only proved that the local committe, along with UEFA, had done a terrible job. They should've worked much better so bad things would never had happened. They also took some lessons from this chaos so, in the future, they can hold a better organized final game. Instead, they are too busy blaming Liverpool fans for what already happened.
