Lehigh Valley-Berks Air Quality Forecast For Tuesday, June 5

Lehigh Valley, PA - The remnants of Tropical Storm Barry are working their way into New England at the moment. This system brought some pretty significant rain to the region; over an inch in most locations with more along the coast. A weak storm system over the Great Lakes region will skirt the region on Tuesday keeping skies mostly cloudy and bringing some more showers. Both ozone and fine-particulate concentrations are currently well within the good range. This trend should continue into Tuesday.

Mostly cloudy with some lingering showers in the morning. There may be some brief peaks from the sun later in the day but more clouds and showers are expected associated with a weak cool front. Westerly winds will pick up and afternoon temperatures are expected to reach the mid 70s. Winds, rain and clouds should keep Tuesday�s ozone and fine-particulate concentrations in the code GREEN (good) range.

Extended: More seasonal temperatures are expected over the next several days with rain and clouds beginning to clear out by midweek. The models are currently projecting a return to the 90s by Friday. This will affect air-quality ratings accordingly pushing good readings into the moderate range as the week progresses. Any period of elevated temperatures and poor air quality will be brief with rain and more seasonal temperatures forecast to return by the end of the weekend.
