Surprisingly Ron Paul seems to be gathering support from a broad spectrum of people in Sarasota.

According to many news sources who may have been trying to downplay the groundswell of support for Ron Paul's GOP bid for president in 2008, Ron Paul supporters were supposed to be a bunch of computer geeks and hackers who were manipulating the numbers on the internet polls in order to raise his popularity.
Meetup.com has seen a surge of Ron Paul supporters appearing across the nation. Sarasota is no exception. The Sarasota Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Group was formed just over two weeks ago and has seen membership go from zero to twenty nine citizens in two weeks.
Contrary to the major news sources reporting about hackers these meetup groups are comprised of live people in these communities. The Sarasota Meetup on Monday June 4th included people from the ages of 18 to 78 and every generation in between. The majority of attendees were from Sarasota/Bradenton with a few people traveling from as far as Ft Myers, Venice, Tampa and Clearwater to attend.
Surprisingly Ron Paul seems to be gathering support from a broad spectrum of people in Sarasota. During discussions it was discovered that members had many previous political backgrounds. Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, Green Party, and those who had no previous political party affiliation were in attendance. The one thing that brought them together at the meetup was their enthusiasm for Ron Paul’s message.
