June 7, 2007 (Press Release) --
Providence, R.I., SIIM Booth # 317 – June 7, 2007 – Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), a leading supplier of speech and imaging solutions, today announced the availability of PowerScribe® Workstation 4.8, the leading speech recognition reporting solution for radiology. PowerScribe 4.8 delivers enhanced functionality including new features based on two previously announced partnerships, Vocada Veriphy and Amirsys STATdx.
In this new version of PowerScribe, Vocada’s Veriphy is embedded in PowerScribe creating a simplified user interface for radiologists. Veriphy is a communications solution for critical test result management that allows physicians to send critical messages to ordering clinicians instantly via pager, cell phone or email. This integration between PowerScribe and Veriphy eliminates delays and inaccuracies in communication, improving patient safety and streamlining reporting.
Amirsys STATdx Clinical Decision Support, a diagnostic decision support system for radiologists, is now also incorporated in PowerScribe 4.8. This system allows radiologists to access evidence-based, point of care reference material with the click of a button or simple voice command while creating their reports.
“The integration between PowerScribe, Veriphy and STATdx is a natural fit as it combines core radiology reporting, critical results management and diagnostic support technologies to create one complete solution that increases radiologist productivity, improves the quality of patient care and reduces operating costs,” said Peter Durlach, senior vice president, marketing and product strategy, Dictaphone Healthcare Solutions, Nuance. “As speech recognition has become a must-have technology in healthcare, Dictaphone continues to evolve its market-leading PowerScribe platform in order to provide the most efficient reporting and communication solution for radiologists and their referring clinicians.”
Additional technology updates now available in PowerScribe 4.8 include:
Support for Internet Explorer Version 7
Support for Windows XP 64-bit operating system— allows PowerScribe to run on 64-bit PACS and RIS workstations
Updated report coding interface— now voice enabled, allows users to easily enter various codes into reports for such functions as peer review, image quality and risk management
PowerScribe Workstation 4.8 is available to all PowerScribe customers with active maintenance contracts and will begin shipping this summer, 2007.
