June 13, 2007 (Press Release) --
(New York, NY) --- What happens when you mix sports’ biggest night with VIP celebrities, elite athletes, and a teppanyaki style grill-off?…Success! Long time advertising innovator and industry veteran Gad Romann has done it again, by coordinating with 20+ year client, Benihana restaurants, and ESPN to spur one of this year’s biggest pre-game Super Bowl events, The ESPN / Benihana Grill-Off at ESPN The Magazine’s NEXT Big Block Party.
Elite athletes and celebrities filled the Moore Space in Miami’s Design District over Super Bowl weekend; creating a fun filled evening of socializing in honor of the year’s most watched sporting event. The celebrities in attendance of ESPN’s NEXT Big Block Party ranged from musician Joey Fatone, to actor Christian Slater to sports legends Dan Marino and Donovan McNabb. Musical performances from Ludacris and LL Cool J kept the party rockin’ throughout the night. Former Chicago Bears D-Lineman William “The Refrigerator” Perry was on hand to test his Japanese cooking style. “The Fridge” (taught by a Benihana master chef) let the shrimp fly and even built a smoking volcano out of a sliced onion. On the opposite side of the Benihana grill was the always-beautiful Stacy Keibler, who gave us an idea of her hibachi cooking technique by showing the crowd a thing or two!
The event was conceived with ESPN and The Romann Group, a Manhattan based full-service advertising agency, representing Benihana for over 25 years. Throughout the night 10,000 sushi rolls and hundreds of pounds of shrimp, chicken, beef and rice were served courtesy of Benihana Restaurants. In addition to the great food, guests were allowed to try virtual baseball batting cages, a hockey slap-shot competition and the hottest video games on the market! If that wasn’t enough, you could go outside and watch BMX bikers tear up the half pipe!
