The day's offerings combine unique treasures from estates in Swampscott, Wakefield, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Ashland, Ipswich and a large collection of Victorian furnishings from Lunenburg. Highlights of the sale include a ladies platinum diamond ring with a stunning pear-shaped center stone flanked by baguettes (Est. $7,000 - $11,000); an early 19th Century American Chippendale walnut slant-front desk (Est. $4,500 – $6,500); and a painting by highly collected artist, Emile Gruppe, "The Clammer" (Est. $10,000 - $15,000). Gruppe, originally from Rochester, NY, spent the majority of his career in Gloucester, where he derived inspiration for his depictions of beautiful seaside landscapes and harbors.
The coveted lot of the day is a striking 19th Century sterling silver Tiffany & Co. oval pedestal bowl with an ornate repousse design and a gold vermeil inner bowl (Est. $2,500 - $3,500). There is a 15% buyer’s premium when bidding with Kaminski, or 20% buyer’s premium when bidding with eBay Live.
Enhancing the auction’s diverse selection, additional lots include an early 20th Century Glenwood "Gold Medal" stove (Est. $2,000 - $4,000); a Philadelphia centennial mahogany highboy with brass hardware, circa 1870 (Est. $2,500 - $3,500); and a Quincy Tahoma painting, "Indians on Horseback" (Est. $2,500 - $3,500). This painting showcases Tahoma’s evocative style and captures an intense and visceral moment with bold colors and painstaking detail.
"It is a real pleasure to offer collections and items from surrounding estates in our August auction ," comments Frank Kaminski. "We have had a great deal of interest in this auction, and these recent consignments will turn out our collectors . We're happy to accept consignments from a single piece to an entire estate. Our role is to help people achieve the highest return for their valuables."
Kaminski Auctions also recently launched a second operation in San Diego, California.
